Compilo's goal is to get all of the country's municipalities to adopt the Civis citizen application. They visualise this progress on a three-metre magnetic map of Norway – developed and produced by CopyCat.
Compilo is one of the country's largest providers of quality management systems, with over 300 organisations on its customer list. The company has now developed the application Civis, which brings together all of the country's 356 municipalities on a single platform.
The goal is for all municipalities in Norway to adopt the app to communicate with their residents.
– Our Sales Director has taken on the role of Harald Fairhair and is working to unite Municipal Norway into a single kingdom in Civis, chuckles Michael Tonheim, Business Development Manager at Compilo and project manager for Civis.

Many municipalities have already switched to the app. To celebrate new conquests and at the same time be reminded of the work that remains, the gang in I compile the idea of an interactive map solution for the office. The question was simply how they were going to put it into practice.
A large jigsaw puzzle
– We have collaborated a lot with CopyCat over the years, so it was natural for us to contact them, Tonheim states, and continues:
– Fortunately, they caught on to the idea immediately. They suggested printing out a map of Norway in two parts on an aluminium plate with magnetic foil, and then cutting out the municipalities as jigsaw pieces so that we can just hang them up as they become customers of ours.
All 356 municipality pieces had to be drawn and then cut out using a die cutter – which was no quick task.
– Many municipalities in this country have an incredible coastline with lots of fjords and islands. So the map turned out to be a bit bigger job than they had initially imagined, hehe. But CopyCat delivered big time, says Tonheim.

He explains that the map has also become a practical tool in everyday life.
– The sales manager is constantly over looking at the map when he's talking to some municipality or other. It's really handy to be able to see exactly where the municipality is and what the neighbouring municipalities are called. Because even after the municipal merger, there are a lot of municipalities to keep track of!
Much more than just print
Michael Tonheim states that the collaboration with CopyCat has been productive and informal throughout.
– We know each other well and it is more of a partnership than a customer/supplier relationship. Whatever we need help with, whether it's a map of Norway or a cardboard cutout we want to have cut out, we just pop in to see the team at CopyCat.
CopyCat is brilliant at idea development, design work and creative processes.

But one thing surprised him in the process of making the map of Norway.
"It was only when I realised the breadth of what CopyCat delivers. Previously, I primarily associated them with printed matter, but CopyCat is brilliant at concept development, design work and creative processes," concludes Michael Tonheim, project manager at Civis.
